Bonnie J. Hooper is a Board Certiﬁed Nurse Practitioner specializing in dermatology. She earned her Master’s Degree in Nursing with honors from California State University at Long Beach, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of San Diego. Ms. Hooper specializes in the treatment of acne and related disorders, combining conventional approaches with state of the art treatments and medications to enhance results. She has a special interest in skin cancer screening and prevention education. Trained at one of the foremost dermatology practices in the nation (Dermatology Associates of San Diego County), she left there to work with her husband in 2005. Her practice includes both general and cosmetic dermatology. She has worked as Clinical Instructor/Adjunct Faculty at Palomar College, and as an administrative consultant at Scripps Memorial Hospital – LaJolla. In 1998 she published a book, Primary Dermatologic Care (Mosby). She also precepts nurse practitioner students and lectures on various aspects of acne treatment. Memberships in professional associations include California Association of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Nurse Practitioners, and the Dermatology Nurses Association.
In her spare time, Ms. Hooper enjoys running marathons, swimming, cycling, reading and spending time with her animals. She and her husband, Dr. Wayne Hooper, have two grown sons.
